This is the Summer Time :)
This summer, I got to go on a fun trip to Boracay with my family. We stayed there for five days, from the 12th to the 16th of April. It was fun and wasn't hurried, totally how a vacation is supposed to be. Unfortunately though, sad news welcomed me when I got back home, so I wasn't in the mood to write about it. It's just now that I've decided to finally write about my trip to Boracay. Here it goes...
Day 1: 2010.4.12
The reason why my mom thought of going to a trip to Boracay was actually because she had a 4-day convention to attend there, and thought to bring us along. I was lucky to be the one to come with her, because that meant I'd be staying there for five days, whereas my siblings and my dad would only be staying for two days (three actually, but their flight is in the morning so basically they only have two days to go around). So, our flight was in the morning, but I felt good. The sky looks refreshing in the morning, so a morning flight is my ideal (I'd like to try a flight in the evening too, though). I wasn't in the window seat though, so unfortunately I couldn't take pictures. We took off at around 9:20 and arrived at Kalibo Airport less than an hour later.
After a few minutes, we boarded a van and set off on a one-hour road trip to Caticlan, where the Jetty Port to Boracay was located. It was nearly lunch time already so we decided to buy some fried noodles and eat first. Right after that, we got on a Fast Craft to get to Boracay Island.
After travelling by air, land and sea, we finally got to Boracay Island! :) It's really lovely, very picturesque. We waited for a while and then a multicab from the hotel we're going to stay in came to pick us up. It's so nice to have a road trip there, the roads are still surrounded by nature and the air's fresh. When we arrived at the hotel, we ate a late lunch/early merienda sort of meal, and then had our siesta. It's relaxing. I've finally gone on a trip where we're not hurrying, a true vacation where we're able to relax and still be able to go around the place.
In the afternoon, we went to D'Mall, a shopping place strategically located at a spot along White Beach. The restaurants and shops range from the well-known and branded ones to the small, local businesses. My mom and I strolled around and went picture-taking first, then did some shopping for pasalubong and some other stuff. I liked shopping there because there were lots of affordable items. The ones I bought were keychains and sea creature-themed magnets which I bought for around 10-20pesos only.
After some shopping, we ate an early dinner, went to the grocery to buy some more food for breakfast tomorrow, and then we went back to the hotel to rest.
Day 2: 2010.4.13
My mom's convention officially started this day, so in the morning I went with her and took some pictures. After lunch time, I went back to the hotel room and spent the day mostly by myself. But it wasn't lonely at all, in fact I loved the time I spent alone this day. It felt good to be able to laze around the room, and go for a siesta.
We went to D'Mall again in the afternoon, strolled around, and bought some food again. We got back at the hotel just in time for sunset.
In the evening, I got to surf the net at the hotel for an hour. Then, my mom ordered some food and we ate at the lobby. It was quite refreshing because we were near the window and we could feel the fresh, crisp sea breeze perfectly.
Day 3: 2010.4.14
The fun part starts here :) In the morning, we didn't have much food for breakfast, so I went to the convention with my mom again so I could have something to eat XD
Then, at noon, we went to the resort at Station 2 where my siblings (and I) are going to be staying. They arrive this day with my dad. It was still very hot so we didn't go swimming yet. I just took some pictures, because the beach at that time was truly picturesque. Fine, white sand against pristine blue waters and fluffy, white clouds on a clear, blue sky. One of my favorite sceneries.
We lazed around in the afternoon, then when it when the heat started to subside, we finally went to the beach! :D It was so much fun frolicking in the beach. We wrote stuff on the sand, feeling envious of the children who, using just a spoon, a broom and their artistic talents, were able to make very creative artworks on the sand. Haha. Then we went picture-taking and then of course, swimming. It was nearly time for sunset then so the view was wonderful.

This is just one of the awesome artworks the local kids made in the sand. I so envy their artistic talent :))
Before going in, my sister and I decided to swim in the resort's pool as well. There weren't many people so it was nice. For dinner, we went to D'Mall again, and we enjoyed our freedom when our parents left us at the resort. We went to the beach again, started to walk around, and before we knew it we were walking some distance. The distance we walked was around a kilometer. It was quite pleasant to walk on bare feet, because the sand was so fine that it felt really nice. The night sky was so pretty too, it was starry and so while walking, I kept looking up and gazing at the stars. We also managed to catch a fire dance performance, it was thrilling! :) Overall our walk-by-the-beach-at-night activity was very delightful.
Day 4: 2010.4.15
This day was an adventure-filled day! :) We got free tickets for the banana boat ride, so that's what we did after enjoying breakfast at the hotel. As expected, it was fun! :) We had so much fun that we wanted more adventure, so when we knew that the snorkeling activity would only cost 1500php (Ok, so that's still expensive, but it was way cheaper than the other activities), we immediately convinced our dad. Since the 1500php fee was a fair price since it would already cover both the snorkeling equipment and boat rent, our dad agreed and we went on a boat ride to Crocodile Island. That's where we went snorkeling.
We were told that the site was still in the process of rehabilitation, so the corals were mostly young, but it was lovely nonetheless. There were various fishes swimming around the area, and some of them were very colorful. It was fun when we got to feed them some bread. It was a bit wavy though, so I found it a bit hard to actually snorkel. It was around noon that time but we didn't really care, the view under the waters was simple and yet beautiful.
After snorkeling, we rode the boat again and through that boat ride we were able to go almost round the island. The locals brought us to Puka Beach, another beach in Boracay. It is less famous than White Beach, though. The sand is less fine but its asset lies on the different kinds of shells that can be found amongst its sands. The shells are abundant and pretty, so the locals make a living out of making accessories from the shells. We ate lunch at a carinderia, and the adobo that we ate was delicious. When we were done, we were taken back to White Beach.
It was quite tiring so we just spent the afternoon resting. Then, around 5pm, we went to D'Talipapa, the wet and dry market version of D'Mall. I saw some lovely bracelets for 10pesos only, so I went and bought some for me and my best friends. We ate an early dinner at a restaurant there, where you could bring them fresh seafood bought from the nearby stalls and have them cook it to a dish you like.
Then we did some last-minute shopping at D'Mall. I bought small decorative bottles as souvenirs for myself (I had them filled with sand from White Beach). We also ate dessert at a crepes shop. I made sure I enjoyed myself while going around because we'll be leaving the next day.
Day 5: 2010.4.16
My mom and I went to Puka Beach early in the morning for some last-minute sightseeing. She wasn't able to come with us when we went there the previous day so she wanted to go. We took some pictures there, and some pictures at the resort. Then we packed our things and before we left we thanked the wonderful staff at the resort for the warm and accommodating treatment over the past five days.
I finally got to sit at the window seat on the flight back to Manila. I enjoyed taking pictures of the sky, and pointing out the familiar buildings from above (I even saw our house from the airplane, no kidding! :D).
I really enjoyed every day of my stay there in Boracay. It was such a lovely place and I'm very thankful for another set of wonderful summer memories. I hope I get to go back again after some time. I'm definitely looking forward to it :)

The plane we boarded from Manila to Kalibo. I like it that we got to descend from the plane using stairs :)

Serenely blue waters are what you'll see as a welcome to Boracay Island. I wanted to ride a boat like the ones on the left, but what we rode was one like the one parked on the far right...

Love it ♥

While lazing around at the hotel room, I took this picture of the magnets I bought at D'Mall the previous day. Cute, aren't they? =)

This is the place we stayed in at Boracay... The sunset provides quite a nice backdrop to the place :)

This is just a part of the kilometers-long, picturesque White Beach. Isn't the scene too pretty to behold? ;)

Side view of Willy's Rock, a popular landmark at White Beach. Don't mind the camera's strap that accidentally got in the way XD

One of the places we passed by on our almost-round-the-island boat ride :)

I look weird here but this is the most decent shot I have of me in the snorkeling area XD
